OCE’s Interns Bring Home the Golden Plunger from the 2025 Great Outhouse Race!

Otter Creek Engineering is proud to announce that it is the winner of the 2025 Great Outhouse Race. The event, held annually in Bristol, VT, features several heats of racers, where two runners push a wooden-framed outhouse on caster wheels with a rider inside. Teams are encouraged to decorate their outhouses in fun but wholesome designs before the race begins. Attendees are encouraged to bet on the race, a raffle is then held for each heat of the race, and the proceeds help defray of Bristol’s next 4th of July celebration.

OCE’s team consisted of three summer interns with Noah Beayon and Geoff Johnson as runners and Jesica Donlevie as the rider. Noah could be considered something of a ringer as he is not only a member of UVM’s Men’s Track and Field Team but is the current holder of the Vermont D2 record in the 100-meter dash. As quoted in the Addison County Independent article noting the win, OCE’s team, named Otterly Hopeless, had this to say about the win: “We felt pretty good at the start. That endurance kicked in, and we were good to go.”

OCE is happy to support its local community and to have fun while doing it! We’ll see if we can hold onto the golden plunger in next year’s race!
