Eric DePhillips has been a valuable member of Otter Creek Engineering since June of 2021, when he joined as a staff engineer. Since then, Eric has become an invaluable member of the organization, starting with small-scale water-system designs with a focus on treatment systems and assisting principal engineers with smaller Preliminary Engineering Reports. Since then, he has taken on increased responsibility and provided engineering services for large-scale preliminary engineering reports, municipal water/wastewater system asset management plans, and he has recently compiled Environmental Information Documents (commonly referred to as EIDs) for many federally- and state-funded projects.
After graduating from UVM in 2018 with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Pure Mathematics, Eric earned his Engineering Intern License by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam in 2019. He then accumulated more than the required four years of engineering experience in the speciality discipline (in this case, water resource-based civil engineering), submitted the required application and references, and passed the Professional Engineer Civil: Water Resources and Environmental Exam to attain his Professional Engineer License. Eric has since been promoted to Project Engineer II.
Eric had this to say regarding his achievement: “I decided to pursue obtaining my P.E. as it was the next logical step in my development as an engineer. Having an extra year under my belt beyond the minimum of four before I could’ve taken it gave me an extra level of comfort and confidence in my engineering knowledge and intuition. Now having the P.E. will allow me to take on a larger role in project development and a greater responsibility in moving projects forward.”
OCE is proud of Eric DePhillips, P.E., and we welcome his increased involvement in the firm!
