Project Description
Rutland Fire District 6, located between Rutland City and Mendon, serves a population of 137 (or 50 single-house connections). After an increasing number of repairs on the original ductile-iron piping, OCE was hired to investigate the best way to improve the water system. OCE performed a preliminary engineering report and found the original piping to be undersized and recommended replacing it with 4-inch PVC. The town followed this recommendation, and OCE provided design, permitting, and construction review for the replacement of 1,750 feet of water main. With the water main project under budget, the Fire District used remaining funds from the Water Investment Division’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, to invest in some upgrades at their booster pump station.
