Project Description
Renaissance Development Corp. hired Otter Creek Engineering to develop thirty-two acres into the first mixed-use development in Middlebury. Collaborating with ORW Landscape Architects, OCE developed mapping, acquired permitting, and designed site infrastructure including water supply, wastewater disposal, and stormwater treatment practices. Not only did OCE consider multiple site constraints, including wetlands, archeological sensitive areas and prime agricultural land, but OCE was also able to support a layout that both fit the town plan zoning requirements and would be economically feasible in the future.
The stormwater design and permitting included six treatment practices. Centralized green for public use incorporated a terraced lawn with native rock walls to address site slope and grading constraints. Pond within traffic roundabout incorporated a fountain to aesthetically highlight the feature.
