Project Description
As the Central Vermont Medical Center is located on Fisher Road, the Fisher Road Culvert allowed travel from Paine Turnpike North to the hospital. As shown in the photo, the existing corrugated metal culverted was not only undersized, but the bottom had completely rusted out. It was no surprise that the culvert collapsed and required a replacement. The State approved an emergency repair, and OCE worked with S.W. Cole Geotechnical Engineers and Contech Engineering solutions to design a 28-foot wide by 120-foot long precast concrete arch culvert. OCE worked on an aggressive schedule to complete this emergency repair project within the Town’s desired goals and timelines, reopening access just over a year after the initial collapse.
