Matthew Kiernan

M​atthew is the third Kiernan to have worked for Otter Creek Engineering, including his brother, current Staff Engineer Drew Kiernan. Matthew graduated from the University of Vermont in May 2026 with a degree in Business Administration and became interested in construction with a focus on environmental responsibility after he interned for a commercial construction company last summer. Matthew now assists the engineer of record during the construction phase of projects by observing the performance of the contractor’s work, conducting on-site observations of work in progress to assist the engineer in making decisions in accordance with the contract documents, and completing daily logbooks and progress reports.

During a study abroad program in Barcelona, Spain in his junior year in college, Matthew became an avid Barcelona Football Club fan. He even got to attend a game with his brother Drew during a visit. Matthew loves the outdoors and skis whenever he can, even working as a lift operator at Sugarbush while still in school.
